Last updated: November 21, 2025
CitySocializer ("CitySocializer," "we," "us," or "our") operates a social networking platform that helps people discover nearby members, coordinate local "Socials," and stay connected through messaging and notifications. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use our websites, mobile applications, APIs, and related online services (collectively, the "Services").
By using the Services, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies, please discontinue use of the Services.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to information processed by CitySocializer in connection with your access to and use of the Services. It does not apply to information collected by third parties that are not directly under our control, including other members you may meet offline, or external sites linked from the Services.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following ways:
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account Information: Name, email address, password, age confirmation, and other registration details you submit when creating or maintaining an account.
- Profile Details: Bio, interests, pronouns, city or neighborhood, photos, and any optional demographic or preference data you add to your profile.
- Social and RSVP Content: Information about Socials you create or join, including titles, descriptions, schedules, locations you suggest, and responses you provide to host prompts or attendance questions.
- Messages and Community Interactions: Chat messages, comments, reactions, feedback, and other content shared with other members through in-app messaging or notification features.
- Contact Information for Support: Information you provide when you request customer support, submit feedback, or otherwise communicate with us.
- Safety or Trust Reports: Details you supply if you flag behavior, submit incident reports, or help us investigate policy violations.
- Optional Phone or Multi-Factor Authentication Data: Phone numbers or verification codes when you enable SMS-based security features.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device and Usage Data: Log files, IP address, browser type, operating system, language settings, device identifiers, referring URLs, pages viewed, and timestamps collected through our hosting providers (such as Vercel) and monitoring tools (such as New Relic) to ensure performance and security.
- Cookies and Similar Technologies: Session cookies, authentication cookies, analytics identifiers, and local storage that keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure engagement.
- Approximate Location Data: Non-precise location or coordinates derived from the details you enter when browsing location-based Socials or when you allow the app to suggest nearby events.
- Notification and Web Push Data: Device tokens, subscription preferences, delivery confirmations, and unread counts collected through our notification infrastructure to deliver in-app and push updates.
2.3 Information Received from Third Parties
- Authentication Providers: If you sign in with Google, Apple, Facebook, or other OAuth providers supported by Supabase, we receive account identifiers and profile information as permitted by your settings with those services.
- Payment Provider: When you purchase memberships or digital features, our external Merchant of Record supplies transaction confirmations, status updates, and limited billing metadata needed to provision your access. CitySocializer does not store full payment card details.
- Cloud Services: We receive media metadata (for example, upload IDs and file constraints) from Cloudflare Images when you upload profile or event imagery.
- Service Integrations: Where permitted, we may obtain data from email delivery platforms, error tracking services, or anti-abuse partners to maintain account integrity and deliver transactional communications.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Services, including authenticating users, creating and managing Socials, processing RSVPs, and enabling chat and notification features.
- Personalize your experience, such as recommending relevant Socials, reminding you about upcoming events, and saving your preferences.
- Facilitate communication between members and deliver transactional updates, announcements, surveys, or service-related messages.
- Support community safety and trust by enforcing our Terms of Service, investigating reports, and deterring fraud, spam, or abuse.
- Analyze performance, debug issues, and maintain the reliability of our infrastructure using aggregated or pseudonymized analytics.
- Process membership payments, account upgrades, and renewals through our payment partners.
- Comply with legal obligations, protect our rights, and respond to law enforcement requests consistent with applicable law.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. We may retain limited information (such as email addresses, enforcement records, or transaction summaries) after account closure to prevent fraud, maintain security, or meet record-keeping requirements.
7. Data Security
We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, environment isolation, monitoring, and regular review of our infrastructure and code. Despite our efforts, no system is completely secure. We encourage you to use strong passwords, enable multi-factor authentication where available, and promptly notify us of any suspected security issues.
8. International Data Transfers
Our Services are operated from the United States and may be supported by providers with infrastructure in other jurisdictions. By using the Services, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in countries outside your place of residence. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers consistent with applicable data protection laws.
9. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:
- Account Controls: You can access and update most account details directly within your profile settings, including editing Social content and managing notification preferences.
- Marketing Preferences: You may opt out of promotional emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in those communications or adjusting your in-app settings. We may still send transactional or service messages.
- Notifications: Manage in-app, email, and push notification preferences within the Services or through your device settings.
- Data Access, Portability, or Deletion: You can request a copy of your information, ask us to correct inaccuracies, or seek deletion of your account by contacting us. We may retain certain data as permitted by law or needed for legitimate business purposes.
- Do Not Track: Our Services currently do not respond to "Do Not Track" signals. You may use browser or operating system controls to limit certain tracking.
We may need to verify your identity before responding to some requests and may decline requests that are unlawful or would adversely affect the rights of others.
10. Children's Privacy
The Services are intended for individuals 18 years and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
If we learn that we have collected information from a minor, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
11. Third-Party Services and Links
The Services may contain links to third-party websites, integrations, or features that are not controlled by CitySocializer. This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access through the platform.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy, posting a notice within the Services, or sending you a direct communication.
